The Artist Library
The Artist Library consists of storage space for up to 96 custom tunings. Tunings can be created from a possible 229,376 possibilities. Tunings can be copied and pasted from the Chord Library. Tunings in the Artist Library can be placed in any order the musician chooses and then edited for rate of tuning change, footswitch operation, and tempered to reduce or eliminate those annoying beat frequencies that areinherent to chromatic tuning.
The Chord Library
The system comes with an extensive Chord Library with 336 preset tunings. The tunings are organized in 5 groups – Opens, Keys, Chords, Dissonants and Modals. The tunings are further organized by musical key within each of these groups. For composers, this organization is a major tool. Once a compositional key has been chosen, tunings can be easily found that work within the song for that key.

Capo Ready
The Performer™ makes a Capo easy to use. If a Capo is installed, the system automatically detects it during the Touch Up strum. The Capo Mode is unique in that it is not accessed within any menus and does not have its own Pushbutton. Simply install your capo or capos, anywhere up to the 7th fret, Touch Up, and you are in tune and ready to play. The notes at the Capoed frets are displayed on the LCD. The system works with full capos, partial capos, and any combination of full and partial capos.
Tempering
The Performer™ has three tempering modes. Tuning Tempering, String Tempering and Note Tempering. The ability to temper the strings is an advanced feature of the system.
Tuning Tempering: Every tuning in the Performer™ can be simultaneously tempered in the Tuning Temper mode. This mode provides the ability to glide into tune with the rest of the band when their instruments are off of nominal tuning or to get in tune with pre-recorded music that is sharp or flat of the nominal tuning notes. Tuning Tempering affects every tuning in the guitar.
String Tempering: Individual strings can be tempered in the String Temper mode. This mode is provided to compensate for the artist’s attack on the strings. While being played, a guitar will drift sharp when the strings are aggressively strummed. String Temper mode allows the artist to, for example, tune the low E string 5 cents flat, the A string 4 cents flat, and so on, so that the strings sound in tune when aggressively strummed.
Note Tempering: Individual notes within any tuning can be tempered in the Note Temper mode. This mode is provided to allow for slight sharp or flat adjustment of any note, within any tuning, to make the interval of the third, forth or fifth sound more pure. Note tempering, often called “well tempering” is an art. The tempering needed is based on the key you are playing in. In general, the amount of tempering needed depends on the audible “beat frequency” that is heard when a string is slightly sharp or flat. By slightly adjusting the offending string the beat frequency can be eliminated and the tempering can be stored for future use.
Tuning Speed Control
The rate of change from one tuning to the next is adjustable with the Performer™. Custom Speed settings allow the tunings to change at rates slower than Full Speed and can be achieved by setting the Beats per Minute to the tempo of the song and the Beats for Change to the number of notes per the song’s time signature. For example, setting bpm to 120 and bfc to 8 will set the tuning change rate to 4 seconds. This synchronizes the time it takes to arrive at the tuning from any other tuning. The system defaults to “full speed” unless a Custom Speed is chosen and every tuning in the Artist Library can have its own unique speed setting.
Foot Switch Control
Features and Benefits
The Performer™ enables you to touch-up your tunings by simply pressing a button and strumming the strings. It also allows you to change tunings quickly and accurately with the push of a button or footswitch. The Performer comes with 336 pre-set tunings, plus room for 96 more of your own. The system can actually reach over a two hundred thousand tunings. You can easily create your own tunings, temper them sharp or flat, and adjust the speed the system changes from one tuning to the next. Copy any tuning and insert it wherever you want it. Use the On Screen Tuner to quickly check the tuning of all six strings simultaneously. You can also go wireless with battery operation. The Performer even works with a full capo, partial capo and any combination of full and partial capos!
